WCG 2005: European Case Modding Show

The Results

After all the votes were counted up, the winner was announced as Robert Stoppels and his AquaPC; Robert won 5000€ for his efforts. Second place went to Switzerland's Marc Voser with Coldfusion, and third place was Doom3 by Alexander Siener - I don't think he was too disappointed with his 2000€ cheque!


The results were displayed on the massive Samsung projection screen and on the right you can see Robert receiving his First Place medal from AMD's Sherwin Aziz.


Here are the boys with their comedy oversized cheques - reminds me of the film Happy Gilmore. Robert's smile was justifiably wide: I can't think of any 18-year olds who win 5000€ for case modding! Unfortunately, Alexander wasn't around to pose for photographs.

I would like to take this opportunity to publically thank everyone at World Cyber Games and Samsung for organising this event: 10,000€ is a lot of money for prizes, and I'm sure the stands and hotel / flight packages cost them plenty to. However, Samsung has been a WCG sponsor for several years now, and their commitment to computer enthusiasts, both gamers and modders alike, should be commended. I sincerely hope that the grassroots investment these companies have shown rubs off on others in the industry so everyone can enjoy more events like this again soon.

I already have plans for my next mod, and I hope to return next with something even better. But for now, I'll leave you with another shot of the two Cheshire Cats of Cebit: Robert Stoppels (left) and Marc Voser (right)
